Background Information

Currently, the Kalani High School Music Department involves an impressive 26% of the total student body at Kalani High School, approximately 350 students. These students comprise the school’s three concert bands; marching band, jazz band, and orchestra.

Unfortunately, State provided funds have historically accounted for 3% or less of the Music Department’s annual operating budget. With annual program fees only contributing another 24% of funds, each year the Kalani Falcons Band Boosters must raise over 70% of the funds needed to keep the music programs running!

Due to the school’s rapidly aging instruments and equipment, some dating back to the 1960’s, and substantial spikes in student enrollment in recent years, your financial support is needed now more than ever!

You can lend your support by attending the Concert + Cuisine Series! Enjoy some good food and music to support a great cause!

Event Information

On Friday, October, 19, 2012 we will be partnering up with MISO & ALE for the Concert + Cuisine Series, a unique pop-up dining fundraiser that unites the musical arts and culinary arts to raise funds to keep Kalani High School’s music programs in operation. On that evening, Chef Okuhara and Chef Gee will be preparing two different dining options for you to choose from and enjoy! See below for details.

Option 1: To-Go Dinner

To-Go Dinners, $30/each, for purchase by pre-sale only, will be available for pick-up outside of the Kalani High School Cafeteria on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Each To-Go Dinner, contains generous portions for one person and includes:

Ginger Cilantro Chicken

Grilled Fresh Catch

Braised Pork Belly

Rice

House Pickled Vegetables

To purchase your To-Go Dinner(s), please refer to the “Ticket Information” portion below. Sales will end on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 12:00 am HST with only (200) available for purchase, so place your orders as soon as possible!

Option 2: Dine-In Pre-fixe Menu

A full service dine-in option, featuring a three-course pre-fixe menu will also be available for purchase by tables of (8) diners, for $500, or tables of (6) diners, for $375. Doors will open at 6:30 with the first course promptly served at 7:00 pm. The pre-fixe menu includes:

First Course

Fresh ahi with a petit herb salad and a fish sauce vinaigrette

Palette Cleansing Intermezzo

Second Course

Miso and ale braised short ribs with an Okinawan sweet potato gratin

Third Course

Crispy chocolate cake with a stone fruit semifreddo and burnt sugar sauce

Pre-fixe diners, as well as limited seating offered on a first come, first served basis for To-Go Dinner diners, will be treated to musical performances, featuring the talented Kalani High School Symphonic Wind Ensemble, directed by Dennis Kaneshiro, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
